AMD 3

For AMD 3, I decided to watch Bella Martha in its entirety. Es war nicht mein lieblingsfilm, aber es war sehr gut. Es ist ein bisschen "contrived," aber es ist ein gut Story. Martha's counterpart does an absolutely fantastic job as Mario, Martha's new sous-chef. The juxtaposition of the two characters contributes equally to the development of both, but also, I find, to the contrived nature of the film. The actors all play off of each other wonderfully, and It's always interesting to see quality acting in a foreign language. It's interesting how much more I can pick up, and also how much help I can still use from the subtitles. An interesting exercise, I found, was to cover up the subtitles and try to see If I could understand what was happening. This taught me that, in German, people tend to say "Schlaff gut" rather than "Gute Nacht." It seems similar how its done in English, but its little subtleties like that that make learning a language interesting.
