These articles are really overexaggerated. They make Germans seem like extreme obsessive compulsive and that may be true in some aspects. However, everyone cannot be like that. The article on the amount of paperwork for a job and/or university applications is very tedious, yes, but also very helpful for the future. For one, the German government would be able to know exactly what each citizen has been doing and had done (e.g. background checks). This also created valuable data for those ancestry enthusiasts. Keeping excellent written record makes a history buff jump for joy in the future.

Again, the exaggeration is ridiculous with the German neighbors. That can be true with neighbors in the United States or anywhere that get upset with people who make too much noise. However, the fact that some of these cases actually make it to court and the judges take them seriously is astonishing. I do not believe you need a civil court to solve a neighborly dispute over frogs or a barking dog. That can be solved man-to-man with your neighbor. To me, I would lose respect for my neighbor if they took me to court over grilling outside. That is just something you do not do.

Patriotism can be a tricky area and I see where the Germans are coming from when they are hesitant to display their affection for their nation. The stigma of the Third Reich is still fresg because the people living during that time are still alive. German patriotism will return when the generations of those that lived during thw World wars have died off. Germans just do not want to be associated with such a terrible thing and that is perfectly acceptable. However, that does not mean that they are not patriotic at all. That is nonsense. There would not be a Germany if Germans were not patriotic. The Germans had the Prussian spirit in the 18th-early 20th centuries. It will return in due time.
