Kultur 7

I read over all the articles this term and decided that the first one was the one that grabbed my interests the most. In this article, the author talks about how crazy shopping centers are in Germany. America only experiences this type of hectic shopping maybe 2 or 3 days a year, but apparently many shops in Germany experience this year round. However, the quality of the product is much less. The author warns the reader of the disgusting food that is served in these centers and how badly looking they are. Many of them are bland and unappealing to accompany the grossness and disease-ridden some of the products are. However, the prices are still extremely cheap, which is why they are so popular and overcrowded. People go to these shops to save money, not buy a fancy meal or gift. To me the author is describing a sort of gross Cosco or Sam's Club. I imagined a smaller version of these types of shops. Also, I imagined the workers being underpaid teenagers that have enough to deal with considering the amount of angry old German ladies, which may be why all the fruit is moldy/rotten. Anyway, I enjoyed the article and I will be sure to avoid this kind of shop if I spend time in Germany.
