I can honestly say, some of these articles were quite frightening. I mean, I already really don't like shopping as it is. In America, a superstore is already annoying enough. You get people who cut, people who need to pay in exact change (people like me), people who don't know which machine to recycle their bottles in, the sassy underpaid cashier, the flourecents and beeping noises. Plus, the lady behind me who reads the National Inquirer while checking out and thinks its 100 percent fact, and that Bill Clinton has a secret child with Lady Gaga or something crazy like that. It's generally annoying. But at least the food isn't rotting and I can't slip on something. That sounds kind of horrible. Also, If I were in Germany, I'd probably recognize it was custom and try to be nice about all the line chaos, but that would drive me nuts too because the way I was raised, that's just plain rude.
On a more complimentary note, I've been to an ALDI grocery store that was in the picture. I don't know if it is similar to how it is in Germany, but I really liked it actually.
I also looked at the USA Kulinarisch website, and that is quite interesting. I wonder if their idea of "American" food, like pumpkin pie, is really how we eat it. This fall, my friend went to Italy and she commented that they tried to prepare a "true American Thanksgiving diner" there, and everything was completely different. I wonder if it would be the same for the Germans and what their idea of "American" cuisine is.
