Kultur Sieben

It is quite ironic that Germans who are very obedient to rules would turn back into Bavarians when it comes to lines. We have learned that even punks will dare not to cross a street when it's red light, yet all Germans, especially the elderly, turn crazy when there's no specific law regarding some certain circumstances. I think the perfect way to make every German into a model citizen is to set a civil law regarding everything and teach basic etiquette (i.e. forming lines). Also, I was very surprised that the elderly always seemed to be the rude ones. Even from the previous Kultur texts, the old grannies always seemed to have a cane or whatever they have as old people and seemed to beat young people with it. I don't know why old people think that they have the right to do this. When I lived in Korea, where everything is extremely conservative and respectable to the elderly due to confucianism, I haven't really seen  any old people being rude and abusing the social standards. Actually, I have seen them being rude, but they were drunk when this happened, so it's understandable since almost everyone's rude when they get drunk. Bis Morgen

Kapitel 7 Kultur- Texte

I can totally relate to the first article about the super-save supermarket. I have two aldis in my hometown, and shopping at those stores is no pleasant experience, but the amount of money that I save is unbelievable. The lights are unbelievably bright, just as the article described, your eyes almost hurt from the intensity of the light. There are tons of rip- off brands. I liked the text's example... Red Horse. The store has more non brands than actual brands. The idea of bringing your own bags to the store is also unbelievable, i'm sure its all a part of reusing our resources.
If i decide to drive when I visit Germany, I am definitely going to rent either a BMW or Mercedes... maybe even an Italian racer, like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. I want to take advantage of being able to maximize the opportunities of driving on the autobahn. The farthest left lane will be mine to enjoy!
No German is pushing me out of the way in a line! Little do they know, but I own my own pair of Adidas Samba trainers, so I will be prepared for the hardest competitor. I will make sure to bring my hockey pads, maybe even my hockey stick to ward off line cutters. I will also be sure to eat lots of garlic, I'm sure the line jumpers will enjoy that!
